Vintage Hair How-To
For all you closeted, want-to-be hairdressers out there, have I got a great new book for you: It’s called Vintage Hairstyling; Retro Styles with Modern Techniques, by Lauren Remmells ($36, vintagehairstyling.com). It came out just a few months ago, but recently I sat down with it and became obsessively inspired to get out my rattail comb and start making pin-curls. If you love–pero, love–the old school pin-up girls of the ’40s and ’50s then you’ll be immediately drawn to these explicitly clear, step-by-step photographs depicting how to get the era’s most famously glamorous ‘dos. Marilyn, eat your heart out.

Ooooh. I’m gonna get that book! That’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. Almost every hairstyle in the Sept. issue of W is that vintage, Veronica Lake look.
