Oh Calvin! How Could I Have Forgotten Your Minimal Splendor?

Silk Calvin Klein dress marked down to $84—minimalism at its best!

My sister and I tried to take advantage of the Labor Day Weekend sales to jump start our fall wardrobes, so we wandered around the Beverly Center listlessly until we stumbled upon the Calvin Klein store. I haven’t been inside that boutique since…the ’90s! So I forgot how great everything was: the design, the styling, the colors and the fit. And it turns out that they are constantly in a state of sale. pccalvinklein.jpg

We basically went sale crazy and grabbed a bunch of stuff from the super-marked-down racks, loaded with dresses, shorts, capris, pants and blouses of every shape. We started a couple dressing rooms just for the hell of it. I ended up finding some really great navy blue cuffed shorts and a silk tank. Amazingly the really helpful salesperson advised me that the shorts were only $17.00 and the tank was $30 (these are Forever 21 prices—people!). Though these pieces seem pretty summery at first glance, I can wear the silk tank underneath blazers and sweaters as a colorful layering item through the fall. And certainly, shorts can be fall at least until October—especially if you wear them with tights and those cute high heeled oxford lace-ups that are in stores lately. It turns out that they have a lot of sale stuff online as well, though I do recall the selection at the boutique being much more comprehensive and cheaper, too. But at the end of the day, I was very pleased to find an outfit that fit my budget and to rediscover a forgotten store.
