Status Update
OMFG, chicas! Today, I did the unthinkable: I updated my relationship status on Facebook. I sound like such a tween right now but I can’t help it—it’s definitely a big deal since every single thing you do on Facebook is announced to all your friends via newsfeed. Some people hate that feature, but I secretly love it. I’m Boricua, so I’m nosy by nature and feel the need to know my friend’s biz. Another reason my status updating is such a big deal? As you all know, I work for the same company as Sam. I’m assuming most of our coworkers know about us by now, but we keep it professional in la oficina.
This part is going to sound silly, but I still have Facebook suitors. You know, past flames or new boys that still crush on me, write cute messages on my wall and send me messages on Facebook. I can’t help it—I love flattery as much as the next girl. And for the record, none of them have ever written anything inappropriate. Now that I’m “in a relationship” status my suitors are inevitably going to flock to another chica. Sigh. Such is life.
Sam and I have been dating for 3 months (an eternity in NYC time) and it’s about time all my friends are aware that I’m dating this cute, comical and charming dude.

Facebook changed dating I think.
you know longer need to worry about your ex seeing you and your new BF at a bar or seeing his new gf….. No facebook takes the surprise out of it all. but at the same time i think it is this generations equivalent to getting “pinned”. you show everyone that you are taken and vice versa…. yes it hurts when you see your ex go from single to in a relationship but you feel even better when you change yours…
now the change from in a relationship to single………. well thats a whole other blog!!!

Ohhh Lex…let me tell you….
First to answer your question, yes with my recent man I felt so good to display my love for him and let people know “Hey I am taken!!” But how about him not updating his status. Took me 6 months to get him to change his status and thats only b/c I caught him still sending msgs to his ex….Well I put a stop to that and he changed his status without me asking him to. Guess what I had to say really knocked some sense into him.
You know how loud and crazy us Latinas can be…..
So dont worry about your old flames…if you like Sam…be proud to let the whole cyberspace know.
