Good Vibrations

esteelancomemascaras.jpgSo it’s time to usher in a new generation of beauty products, batteries included. I blame the electronic toothbrush. The day we became too lazy to brush our own teeth with a few up-down motions of our hand might well have marked the beginning of the end for civilization. Now we have buzzing microdermabrasion kits, and today the unstoppable onslaught of oscillating mascaras. That’s right, you hold a button and let the wand shake and slide through your lashes as you gently push it up through them. Here’s when I go on and on about how unnecessary, how gimmicky, how makeup-drawer-cluttering this new power tool is– except I love it. Estee Lauder has their new TurboLash ($30, esteelauder.com), and Lancome is getting ready to introduce Oscillation ($34, lancome.com). Both vibrate–Lancome’s almost undetectably so–but I’ve had the awesome opportunity to try Oscillation. It takes a while to get used to the sloooow movement of your hand and the buzzing sound in your ear, but the wow-factor after is, for me, well worth it.
