Pink Is My Neutral

As a fair-skinned Latina, I have to be careful with eye shadow. Lots of strong, dark (aka fun!) colors can take over my face and scream my presence in a room long before I can introduce myself. But I love, from afar, Cover Girl’s new Blast Shadows: like the electric green “Lime Alive” and almost 80’s blue “Turquoise Tempest.” However, I do like to color outside the lines at times. I’ve found for my skin tone and brown eyes that shimmery pinks work better as everyday neutrals than more traditional browns. So Cover Girl’s aptly named “Pure Romance” eye shadow quad ($5.50, walgreens.com) is the compact I keep close by. A collection of taupe, sparkling mauve, baby soft pink and vanilla powders that are just oh-so-pretty.

I am also a fair skin Latina, I will def try the pinks!

As far as the color to make your eyes stand out…I was told that purple would do the trick for brown eyes? How true is that?

    Thank you!

    Hola Vero,
I am a pro-make-up artist + often do a lot of work on people w/browns eyes, + have done much practice on my brown eyed sis. Do yourself a favor, check the color closest to your eye’s iris. Do you have gold flecks? Utilize matte yellow/golds for day + shimmer golds for evening. Dark, dark brown eyes , look hot w/lavenders + lilacs, med. to dark browns of all shades look awesome w/ greens. Just stay away from “Muddy” greens” that can dull an olive toned/brown complexion. Suerte.
