Protect Your Heels!

There’s a dilemma that affects all of us ladies, but I may have found a cure. As much as I try to avoid any cracks on the sidewalks, potholes, or those cobblestone streets in the Meatpacking District, the streets of NYC inevitably take a serious toll on my tacones. Whether they’re wider and cone-shaped or thin, Manolo Blahnik heels, I always seem to damage them. And the damage is done in countless ways, from the leather getting scraped to the most horrible one of all: the heel simply breaks off, leaving you lopsided and—let’s face it—not looking too cute!

Recently, someone introduced me to Smart Heel (smartheel.com). It’s a clear contraption that you can slide onto your favorite heels to protect them from impending disaster. It’s also one of those inventions that makes you ask yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?!” Well, someone did—and it works!

What do you think? Would you slip this on and off in order to protect your fave pair of Louboutins? Let me know!

Finally!! I’ve lived in the city all my life, wrecked many pairs of shoes. Now I won’t be walking around the office in ugly scuffed heels!!

I just wanted to let you know that I have tried smart heels, and I love them. There is nothing better for a night a dancing in stilettos, especially in the city. The smart heel protects my shoes while walking, on the subway, and in any place that might scratch or expose my heels to grime. When I get to the club, I throw them in my purse and let my beautiful shoes shine! A cool product for all ladies who love their heels!

Wow, finally! It’s about time! My shoes are constantly getting scraped, scratched, banged and dirty. I could definitely use a product that would increase the life span of my shoes…Gotta love that! Thanks, that was much needed information!

OMG. This is the most ridiculous looking contraption. Are you guys getting paid to promote this or something? This thing turns a cute heel into looking like an orthopedic clog. Adding this thing to your shoe seems like the equivalent of leaving the house with a shower cap and rollos on.

I like the idea., even more after I visited the website. I think its more like leaving the house with a raincoat on to protect a Versace dress. I wouldn’t ruin a $3000 dress in a rainstorm and why should I ruin $700 shoes with all the cracks, dirt, and junk in the city. I saw they are offering free shipping right now so I am going to order a pair and I will let you know what I think.

I agree they look a liitle different, but I really don’t think people would notice when walking on the street. I treat myself to just one pair of Louboutins or Choos a year, so I think its worth trying to protect them. I think of my shoes as a fashion investment, a few dollars to protect them is worth it if it works.

While I agree with the statement that citystyle made, “Adding this thing to your shoe seems like the equivalent of leaving the house with a shower cap and rollos on.”, if you think of it as protecting your heels so you’re looking fabulous when it counts, it’s actually a great little invention! In this case, it’s not the journey that counts, it’s the destination, which is where you want to be looking good ;)

Personally, I don’t get the “shower cap and rollers remark.” It implies going out in a state of unreadiness instead of beautiful and ready but with protection. I agree, its more like a raincoat, a condom, gloves. Its all about protecting the goods, which is rarely glamorous, but it beats the heck out of wrecking or replacing. You go, smartheels!

  9. […] Latina Magazine had this article this week.  I thought it was worth posting because the heels of your shoes always get dings in them from walking around on the sidewalk. As the article says, I wish I had thought of it! These are great and will make my shoes last even longer. Published in: […]

Finally! I can protect my most prize investment, my shoes. Now I can save all that money I’ve been spending at the shoe repair on my heels!

Melissa, Thanks so much for letting me know about these! I am getting married next month. I was worried about ruining my shoes while doing all those outdoor pics, especially by the lake where it gets a little muddy. I think I will try these and see if i can keep my heels clean until the ceremony!

Seriously, these heel protectors look BUTT UGLY. It’s a great idea, but come one let’s admit that it could use a better look. Come on smartheel.com, get some fly designers to make your product look right.
