Mortification at First Blush

oilfree2101.jpgMajor embarrassing moment: I was recently at a photo shoot for one of our fabulous beauty stories (which you’ll see in the February issue now on sale!) where a co-worker came up to me and said “Hey, I’ve been wanting to do this all day,” and then proceeded to rub my cheek raw with her fingertips. “You need to blend,” she said, redistributing my cream blush over my skin. I almost died. How I managed not to evenly blend my makeup that morning…well, I’ll just blame it on the fact that I was running late (as always). But the embarrassment has not worn off in the least. So I thought I’d share a little trick on how to blend your blush into your cheeks so it looks natural – a trick I apparently skipped that day. I first apply a healthy dose of rosy cream blush to my cheeks; then I put some oil-free moisturizer on my fingers (I like Neutrogena) and rub it over the blush. This helps distribute the color and blend it into your skin; it also gives cheeks a moist, dewy glow. Total bonus.
