Ladies, I’ve had a breakthrough. I was recently out at an NYC bar celebrating my friend’s 29th (so she claims) birthday when her loud boss walked up to me and said, “I love your nude lip gloss! What color is it? I have been searching for a nude lip gloss for forever.” Now while she was totally buzzed, it didn’t make her compliment any less thrilling. So I decided to take my lip gloss out for a test run. Every friend I asked agreed the gloss was the perfect shade of nude. And so, I have finally unlocked the secret to nude lip color–that perfect shade of naked, barely there, Angelina Jolie-like nudiness. And that secret is…ready for this?…light pink. That’s right, chicas. Nude lip color is supposed to be the color of your natural lips–hence the word nude. (Otherwise you’re really just wearing beige lipstick.) This is why a super-sheer, slightly shimmering light pink gloss works spectacularly! I was wearing the “Kelly” side of Tarte’s double-ended lip gloss. Now you can go ahead and toss all those pasty tan lip sticks in your make up drawer. Wait…I take that back. Like we’d ever toss any of our makeup without a mandate from the FDA.
