“Cane” Episode 108: “All Bets Are Off”
Whoa. So the drama on that little show called “Cane” never stops. We always sensed there was something off about Frank, but he’s officially the black sheep now. Not only did he fall in love–and actually intends to keep the relationship going–with Ellis Samuels, but he also has a little gambling problem. Addiction, in fact.
Alex isn’t too keen on it, naturally, having noticed some shadiness in Frank’s expense reports, but, being the heroic guy that he is, he manages to make his younger bro’s $500,000 debt disappear. Of course, nothing’s for free, so in order to do that, he has to hire some shady people himself to run the trucking part of the rum business. The Santa Fe Trucking Company may have ties with the mob, but hey, at least they won’t steal directly from Alex, since the head guy is Alex’s friend, and they seem to have an understanding. It’s amazing how Alex manages to keep an eye on everything at the same time…
Meanwhile, I’m kind of intrigued by the insinuation dropped toward the end of the episode about Alex and Ellis having had a little fling of their own in the past. Twisted stuff, indeed. I also enjoyed the introduction of yet another character, Rebecca’s deadbeat dad, who comes to meet the Duques. Her and Jaime are married now, so it’s only fair that the two families meet, even though they come from two entirely different worlds (and social classes). His ignorant comments at the Duque dinner table raise an interesting point: Do Americans living below the poverty line resent Latino immigrants who come over to this country and prosper? What do you think?

I would just like to know what happened to the cane show? It has not been shown in my area for about a month. Is it because of the writers strike? I just can not wait until it comes back on again. I love the show and all the Latino actors on the show!
Yes, I defiantly believe that a lot of people resent Latinos coming into “there” country and do well. There truly believe Latinos are taking “there” jobs and molesting their children. In Prince William, VA the board of supervisor just approved $800.000 to get rid of all illegals. When illegals are mentioned in the media, all I see are Hispanic faces. Many Latinos with young children are now planning to leave. I was born in this country and served as a Woman Marine in the USMC. I have a Hispanic face. A proud face and I better not ever be stopped and questioned by police because all hell is going to break out. I feel the county should have better things to do with our hard earned $800,000.
